112學年上學期 材料系大學部材料專題課程演講公告
題目：學術研究歷程的偶然與必然–以個人研究歷程為例The Coincidence and Inevitability in the Academic Progression – using my personal experience as an example

現職：國立清華大學工程與系統科學系 特聘教授
學歷：伊利諾大學香檳分校 材料博士
摘要： The speaker has devoted to academic research on thin film and coating technology for 30 years. During the research progression, he encountered many interesting events. Some of them were inevitable, while some events seems to be by coincidence. In this talk, the speaker would like to chronologically share those events at the turning points of his research journey, and what he learned from those encounters. The example he used is the process in developing the measurement method on the residual stress of hard coatings by X-ray diffraction, where the speaker has carried out research for 23 years. The speaker hopes to convey a message to the audience that success should be based on not only good luck but also perseverance.
